The Importance of Good Sleep

Good sleep seems to be the foundation for so many things with my boys. They behave better, play better, learn more, eat better, are happier, and have restful nights when they are well-rested. My boys have slept through the night since 13 weeks (7pm-7am) and continue to sleep at least 11 hours every night. I'm grateful for this for my sanity, but especially for their development. They still take 2 naps per day, making about 3-3.5 hours total.

Of course, they have each had their periods of bad napping and occasionally have a bad nap here or there. It is these times when I can see the true benefits of well-rested babies. Ultimately, I can say that my boys are better eaters (liquid and solid) when they are well-rested. They are more willing to try and finish foods and more cooperative in their highchairs.

It takes work, but be committed to giving your baby the opportunities for good, restful sleep.
